Cameroon’s women’s soccer team have made a triumphant return to their home country.
The Indomitable Lions beat Malawi 3-nil in the final of the Women’s African Cup (Wafcon) of Nations in Rabat, Morocco at the weekend.Cameroon, who lost in three previous finals, finally lifted the trophy in Rabat on Sunday.
They received a hero’s welcome when they returned home, one day after their historic victory.
Thousands of fans lined the streets of Yaounde to celebrate with their team.
Apart from winning the continental tournament, supporters were also happy about the team’s qualification for next year’s Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Cameroon, Malawi, Algeria and Morocco automatically qualified for the 2027 FIFA event reaching the Wafcon semi-finals.
