Nigeria Aquatics Federation reschedules ‘Swim to the Future’ in honour of late President

The Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAqF) has set a new date for the second edition of its grassroots swimming talent hunt, Swim to the Future, which will now take place on September 5, 2026.

The annual event was put on hold following the sudden passing of the federation’s President, Dr Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu. Organisers have restructured the upcoming edition to double as a special tribute to Dr Dunkwu, honouring his push to grow aquatics at the foundational level and build clear pathways for young athletes across the country.

Swim to the Future remains central to the federation’s efforts to discover raw talent early and broaden participation in the sport.

According to the federation, the rescheduled meet aims to give young swimmers essential competition experience while laying the groundwork for Nigeria’s future lineup of elite aquatic athletes.
