Advocate Thandazani Madonsela who has been selected as evidence leader in South Africa’s (SA) Parliament Impeachment Committee, has described as irrelevant President Cyril Ramaphosa’s objection to his appointment.
Ramaphosa cited conflict of interest as the basis of his objection.
He says that Madonsela may habour a grievance against him because he had removed him as an appointee to the Judicial Service Commission shortly after the interviews for the appointment of the Chief Justice in 2022.
Ramaphosa’s second concern relates to Madonsela’s public comments on the Phala Phala saga.
The committee has resolved to obtain legal advice after receiving Ramaphosa’s letter on his objection.
