The Intra-ACP Climate Services and Related Applications (ClimSA) programme has issued an urgent call for Central African nations to leverage seasonal climate forecasts to drive early action and disaster preparedness across the region.

The appeal follows rising concerns over extreme weather patterns and intensified climate variability affecting key sectors, including agriculture, water resource management, and public health.

Spearheaded under the auspices of the African Union (AU) Commission, the ClimSA initiative seeks to bridge the gap between scientific meteorology and policy-making by expanding access to actionable climate data.

Regional climate experts warn that without timely, forecast-driven interventions, vulnerable communities in Central Africa face heightened risks from flooding, dry spells, and food insecurity.

Member states are being urged to integrate early warning systems directly into national development strategies and local emergency response plans to safeguard livelihoods.
