The revised procedures also introduce measures dealing with breaches of confidentiality, legal obligations and ethical standards by JSC members.
The JSC said the proposed changes are intended to strengthen the integrity, transparency and effectiveness of the judicial appointment process while ensuring that commission members comply with their legal and ethical responsibilities.
The call for public submissions comes as the Madlanga Judicial Commission of Inquiry continues investigating allegations of criminality, corruption and political interference within SA’s criminal justice system.
According to the JSC, the review of its procedures forms part of broader efforts to enhance public confidence in the judiciary and the processes used to appoint judges.
Members of the public have until September 17 to submit written comments on the proposed amendments.
