Country music singer and songwriter Dolly Parton has died
Her family confirmed her death on Instagram with reports indicating that the country icon died at her home in Nashville, Tennessee aged 80.
Parton was long regarded as a national treasure in the US and one of the most successful artists in country music, known internationally for songs including “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.”
Her career included 11 Grammy Awards, induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
