The South African National Defence Union (SANDU) has demanded an urgent military investigation into allegations that SA National Defence Force (SANDF) members undergoing training in Cuba were coerced into surrendering hundreds of Dollars from their personal allowances.
According to the union, a senior SANDF officer allegedly requested that trainees hand over up to $938 each to assist impoverished Cuban citizens, with a promise that the funds would be reimbursed in December.
SANDU National Secretary Pikkie Greeff called for a formal Board of Inquiry to determine the legality of the demand, insisting that any officers found responsible for unlawful conduct must be held fully accountable.
