Kenya’s government offered a temporary amnesty to undocumented East African nationals
Kenya’s government offered a temporary amnesty to undocumented East African nationals after hundreds of Burundians flocked ‌to their country’s embassy in Nairobi.
On Monday the Burundians sought travel documents, fearing a crackdown on small-scale foreign traders.
This comes in response to President William Ruto’s directive issued last week for foreign traders and small businesses to cease operations.
He indicated that the decision aims to safeguard the interests of local small business owners.
