UN in South Sudan is in the country for its 14th visit
The United Nations (UN) Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan is in the country for its 14th visit, assessing the human rights and humanitarian situation and the risks facing civilians.
The visit comes as South Sudan faces renewed fighting and political tensions, while preparing for elections that are intended to mark an important step in the country’s political transition.
The Commission has also raised concerns about protecting political and civic space.
The Commission will also implement the country’s peace agreement and to ensure there’s accountability for human rights violations.
