SA, US authorities are stepping up their fight against crime
South Africa (SA) and United States (US) law-enforcement authorities are stepping up their fight against transnational organised crime.
The call is for six Nigerian nationals set to be extradited to the US today.
The men are alleged to be members of the Black Axe organised criminal network and are wanted in the US on charges of wire fraud and money laundering.
They are accused of defrauding more than 100 people, including pensioners and businesspeople, of more than $6 million through sophisticated online romance scams.
SA’s elite independent anti-corruption and crime-fighting unit, Hawks and Interpol say the extradition underscores growing international cooperation in tackling organised crime that operates across borders.
