The Government of Zimbabwe and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) have officially signed a hosting agreement for the 25th COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit, scheduled to take place on October 22, 2026, in Harare.
Under the agreement, Zimbabwe will host the regional summit, bringing together leaders from across the 21 member states to discuss trade integration, economic cooperation, and regional development initiatives. As host nation, Zimbabwe will also officially assume the rotating chairmanship of the regional economic bloc during the assembly.
The formal signing establishes the legal, logistical, and diplomatic framework between the regional secretariat and the host government, ensuring diplomatic immunities, administrative protocols, and operational readiness for the high-level gathering.
Following the agreement, officials highlighted that hosting the summit underscores Zimbabwe’s active engagement in advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area framework and fostering intra-African trade across eastern and southern Africa.
