South Africa’s (SA) African National Congress (ANC) has lost in its case against the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
The Electoral Court has dismissed the party’s application to have over 180 candidates participate in the forthcoming local government polls.
The ANC had missed the IEC’s deadline to have those councillor candidates loaded on the commission’s online system, citing some technical glitches.
But Judge Lebogang Modiba dismissed the application, with the reasons expected within the next few days.
