In a high level trilateral meeting, the leaders of the United Nations (UN), African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) Council have urged for stronger multilateral cooperation amid rising geopolitical pressures.
UN Chief Antonio Guiteress, the AU’s Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and EU Council President António Costa and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed Africa-Europe interconnectedness and respect for international law.
Talks are focused on peace and security, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, and on preventing conflict escalation through dialogue and mediation.
