Rwanda’s campaign for a semifinal spot at the 2026 Africa Men’s Nations Volleyball Championship came to an end following a straight-sets quarterfinal defeat to host nation Tunisia in Tunis.
The Tunisian hosts secured a comfortable 25-13, 25-18, 25-18 victory. Head coach Frédéric Guérin made a tactical adjustment to the starting lineup by introducing Samuel Niyonzima for outside hitter Eric Kwizera, but the eleven-time African champions controlled the defensive tempo and neutralised Rwanda’s offensive attempts. Captain Wicklif Dusenge led scoring for Rwanda with 11 points, alongside middle blocker Emmy Twagirayezu who contributed seven points.
The quarterfinal exit shifts Rwanda into the classification bracket, where they will compete for fifth to eighth place finishes.
