A newly constructed block of classrooms has been officially opened at Giyani Primary School in Diepkloof, Soweto, south of Johannesburg, South Africa (SA), to alleviate severe overcrowding and improve learning conditions for pupils.
The infrastructure project was facilitated by the Nelson Mandela Legacy Ride4Hope initiative in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and funded by a local commercial bank.
The handover forms part of ongoing efforts to honor the philanthropic legacy of SA’s first democratically elected President by addressing critical infrastructure deficits in township schools.
School management and education officials confirmed that the new facility will immediately reduce class sizes, providing a safer and more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
