South Africa’s (SA) national rugby team coaching staff says the Springboks are not underestimating Australia ahead of their one-off Test at Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s fixture scheduled for 11:45 CAT, Springbok assistant coach Duane Vermeulen highlighted that the team maintains full focus despite transitioning directly from their demanding Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series against New Zealand.
Following a 43-28 victory over the All Blacks in Baltimore to secure a 3-1 series win, head coach Rassie Erasmus made 13 changes to the starting lineup. Vermeulen noted that Australia is an improving team on the rise, adding that two weeks of targeted preparation have ensured every player understands their role and maintains high intensity on the field.
