South African (SA) police have launched a priority murder investigation following the discovery of a partly clothed woman’s body inside Mooifontein Cemetery in Tembisa, east of Johannesburg.
The victim was discovered this Saturday morning near the Vusimusi informal settlement section by local residents who immediately alerted law enforcement.
National Police Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe and Gauteng Police Spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili confirmed that crime scene management teams and specialised forensic investigators were dispatched to process the area and establish her identity.
This latest discovery marks the 10th body of a woman found deceased across the Ekurhuleni municipality over the past two months, intensifying local safety concerns as a specialised task team probes potential links between the cases.
