South Africa (SA) senior men’s national team head coach Pitso Mosimane has called on Egyptian football supporters to back Bafana Bafana when they clash with Eritrea in their second 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group D qualifier at Cairo’s Al-Salam Stadium on Wednesday night.
The match is taking place at a neutral venue in Egypt due to the unavailability of suitable venue infrastructure in Eritrea.
Following a 2-1 victory over Guinea at Orlando Stadium in Mosimane’s opening game back in charge, Bafana Bafana top Group D and are looking to consolidate their advantage. Drawing on his historical success and reputation in Egyptian football, Mosimane urged local fans to adopt SA for the 90 minutes, pointing to shared footballing ties and SA coaching representation in the country as a foundation for local support.
