The Chinese Embassy in South Africa (SA) has hosted a national day celebration in Pretoria to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, drawing together Cabinet Ministers, former heads of state, foreign diplomats, and corporate executives.
Addressing guests at the embassy, Chinese Ambassador to SA Wu Peng highlighted China’s economic milestones and expanding international partnerships, highlighting shared values between Chinese diplomacy and the African principle of Ubuntu.
Wu noted that China has established primary trade and development partnerships with over 160 nations, while the Belt and Road Initiative now encompasses more than 150 countries worldwide. He reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to high-standard economic opening, sustainable global development, and international peacekeeping co-operation.
