Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya
South Africa’s (SA) investigating officer in the case against suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya, has told the Randburg Magistrates’ Court, that he should not be released on bail as there is a high likelihood that he may harm the complainants.
This was heard during day two of Sibiya’s bail application.
Sibiya was arrested last week on charges of rape, human trafficking and the alleged sexual grooming of a sixteen-year-old girl.
A new charge of contravening the firearms control act has also been added to his charge sheet.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Nokukhanya Ndlovu, says there is strong evidence indicating that Sibiya will attempt to interfere with the state’s case.
Ndlovu says, “The accused actions are beyond reasonable doubt that he is likely to harm M or ZM who are well known to him and whose contact details are known to him. This is evidence as per his phone call at the time I was opening the current case. This may not be regarded as mere coincidence. A reasonable inference may be drawn that he was personally stalking M, or he had someone who did so on his behalf.”
