South Africa’s (SA) opposition party Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are calling for Parliament to hold President Cyril Ramaphosa accountable over an alleged failure to respond to a letter from the country’s suspended Inspector General of Intelligence, Imtiaz Fazel.
Fazel says he wrote to Ramaphosa seeking permission to appear before a parliamentary committee investigating the country’s intelligence services but received no response.
The EFF made the submission as the committee considers accountability measures before concluding its investigation.
