South African (SA) motorists will face record-high petrol and diesel prices in October.
Data from the Central Energy Fund predicts an increase of around 0.18 a litre for both grades of petrol and between 0.17 and $0.19 diesel which lead to over $1.79 a litre at the pumps.
The Department of Minerals and Petroleum Resources is due will announce the official fuel price adjustments ahead of the changes taking effect on Wednesday, October 7.
The latest surge has largely been driven by elevated international oil prices, with Middle East tensions and fears of disruption to crude supplies and shipping adding pressure during September.
October fuel prices are expected to put further pressure on household budgets.
