Zimbabwe has paid just over $500 million to white former commercial farmers as part of the country’s ongoing efforts to resolve a decades long land dispute and to rebuild investors trust.
The payouts are part of a $3.5 billion global compensation agreement that was signed in 2020.
Government has issued United States Dollar treasury bonds to hundreds of displaced white farmers.
The first payments were made in April 2026.
The agreement covers about 4000 commercial farmers. Some of the farmers have rejected the compensation and payment structure.
