Abiy Ahmed has been sworn
Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been sworn in for a second five-year term.
In his address following the ceremony on Monday, Abiy pledged to strengthen Ethiopia’s regional influence and reiterated his country’s demand for access to the Red Sea.
The landlocked nation lost direct access to the sea in 1993, when Eritrea gained independence.
However, neighbouring countries have maintained that access and responsibility for the Red Sea rest with states along its coastline.
