Mashaile says gaps in the criminal justice system have created a vacuum that allows drug manufacturers to operate with ease.
Security analyst Andy Mashaile says the latest discovery of a suspected drug laboratory in North West province, South Africa (SA), raises concerns that drug manufacturers from other parts of the world may have found a conducive base in SA.
Police uncovered what is believed to be a multimillion-Rand (hundreds of thousands of Dollars) Mandrax manufacturing laboratory near Hartbeespoort Dam on Tuesday
Mashaile says gaps in the criminal justice system have created a vacuum that allows drug manufacturers to operate with ease.
“The operations from other parts of the world have now found a conducive base in SA, and this is because of the laws in our country. That’s what they tell me when I do research. They say law enforcement in SA, as well as the criminal justice laws, regulations, and principles, are a sweetheart partnership for them. Even if they can get arrested, they will be out in the street in a very short space of time.”
