More than 1 900 children have lost or been separated from their parents or caregivers since an Ebola outbreak was declared in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in May.
United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says more than 2 000 children have contracted the virus, with at least 1100 deaths recorded.
Children under five are particularly vulnerable, with seven in ten confirmed cases in this age group resulting in death.
The outbreak is also unfolding amid conflict and displacement, making it harder for children to access care and protection.
