Novak Djokovic, has won his seventh China Open
Former world number one and sixth seed, Novak Djokovic, has won his seventh China Open title in Beijing, and 102nd of his illustrious career.
The Serb’s opponent in the final, Australia’s Alex de Minaur, retired with a groin injury in the second set.
De Minaur left the court for a medical timeout after losing the first-set tiebreak.
But the Australian called it quits after winning the first game of the second set.
The victory extended the Serbian’s unbeaten record at the tournament to 34 matches.
It was also the 21st straight year that the 39-year old has won a singles title on Tour.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion was competing in only his second final of the year.
In February, he lost in the Australian Open final to newly-crowned Japan Open champion, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.
