Cape Verde Prime Minister (PM) Francisco Carvalho has presented an executive review of his administration’s first 100 days in office, acknowledging significant systemic hurdles across water, energy, housing, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Addressing public sector backlog, Carvalho outlined a comprehensive framework aimed at tackling immediate public service disruptions while laying the groundwork for long-term economic development.
Key policy commitments highlighted by the executive include expanding clean water access, delivering social housing initiatives, introducing tuition-free higher education, expanding early childhood subsidies, and advancing public healthcare accessibility alongside support for local enterprise and agriculture.
Providing expert analysis on the administration’s performance, legal expert and political analyst Dr Fransual Dias observed that while the proposed social safety nets directly target core socio-economic vulnerabilities, sustainable implementation will hinge on fiscal management and structural execution.
