Equatorial Guinea says it is taking steps to expand access to reliable, affordable electricity, particularly in rural areas, while modernising its energy infrastructure.
The country’s Minister of Mines, Hydrocarbons and Energy, Antonio Oburu Ondó, says the government is working to connect more households and businesses to the electricity grid.
Speaking on the sidelines of African Energy Week 2026 in South Africa’s Western Cape Province, he also outlined investment opportunities for African and international energy companies.
For Equatorial Guinea, the challenge is turning its energy resources into reliable and affordable electricity for its people.
Extending power to rural communities to upgrading ageing infrastructure, the government says it is taking steps to address gaps in electricity access while opening the sector to new investment.
