Health official surge early detection as breast cancer prevalence rises in Lesotho

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in Lesotho, highlighting the urgent need for early detection, accessible treatment and compassionate care.

The Mountain Kingdom has joined the world in commemorating World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, with a strong call for patient-centred cancer care.

Minister of Health Mamokete Ntšekhe outlined the country’s plans for building a cancer centre.

“For the first time in decades this honourable house appropriated funds to build a cancer centre. Our country is funding its own projects of building a cancer centre in our country. We are spending a lot of money sending patients abroad. But that story is about to change.”
