Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has raised concerns over the regional spread of Ebola Bundibugyo following Nigeria’s confirmation of a case, prompting renewed calls for urgent international support.
Director-General Jean Kaseya says the agency is mobilising assistance for Nigeria, strengthening response operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya, and maintaining heightened vigilance in Uganda.
Meanwhile, Africa CDC and Congolese health authorities are demanding greater transparency in Ebola response funding, saying financial reports from aid organisations leave more than $700 million in donor funds unaccounted for.
