The Coalition of Ethiopian Americans Civic Organisations is calling on the African Union (AU) to ensure that the Amhara people and other key stakeholders are included in future peace negotiations aimed at resolving Ethiopia’s ongoing conflicts.
In a letter addressed to AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, the coalition stresses that lasting peace will depend on the meaningful representation of all major groups affected by the conflict.
It warns that excluding key political, ethnic and religious communities could undermine the legitimacy of peace initiatives and threaten their long-term success.
