Senegal’s labour unions have launched a 72-hour general strike, which began on Wednesday and ends today, to protest new labour and social security laws and the rising cost of living.
The unions have criticised the adoption process, saying it lacked sufficient consultation.
The strike has disrupted public transport and healthcare services in the capital, Dakar.
Meanwhile, the government has questioned the strike’s legality and threatened disciplinary action.
