South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs have reaffirmed support for the coaching staff following a disappointing Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup result, calling for unity and patience from supporters.

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr acknowledged the frustration caused by the result but said the Club remained committed to the long-term sporting strategy. “Competing at continental level brings high expectations, and when results do not meet those expectations, naturally there is frustration and reflection,” Motaung said.

“Success in football is rarely defined by a single match or a single competition. It is built through consistency, resilience and unwavering commitment to a clear sporting strategy.”

Motaung said the Head Coach and technical team retained the Club’s full confidence and would continue implementing the established football philosophy and player-development pathway. “As a Club, we would like to reaffirm our full support for, and confidence in, the Head Coach and the entire technical team,” Motaung said.

“Their professionalism, work ethic and commitment to improving the team every day remain irreproachable.”

Motaung said the playing squad had demonstrated determination despite carrying several injuries. “The team is fighting hard every game to uphold a high standard of performance, and despite the result and the injuries we carry, that warrior spirit was visible on the field,” Motaung said.

Kaizer Chiefs believed progress had been achieved in key areas of the sporting project and maintained that the setback did not alter the planned direction.

The Club would evaluate the performance, identify lessons and make improvements aimed at strengthening domestic and continental competitiveness. “Our responsibility is not to be guided solely by the emotion of an adverse result, but rather by careful analysis, stability and strategic decision-making,” Motaung said.

Motaung thanked supporters for continuing to back the team while acknowledging the high standards expected at Kaizer Chiefs. “The standards at this institution remain as high as ever, and everyone within the football department is fully committed to meeting them,” Motaung said.

“Now is the time for unity, not division.”

Motaung said the Club remained confident that foundations being established would produce sustainable success. “We move forward together with determination, accountability and confidence in the future,” Motaung said.
