Mozambique says it will seek further debt relief after China agreed to reschedule some debt payments.
The country owes China about $1.28 billion, nearly 15% of its total external debt.
The Finance Ministry says it will negotiate with bilateral creditors to ease pressure on government finances, including converting debt into investments.
Mozambique is also seeking an additional $528 million in external financing to support a planned International Monetary Fund programme, as it grapples with an unsustainable debt burden.
