With just days to go before November 4 Local Government Elections, South Africa’s (SA) Electoral Commission (IEC) says preparations are largely complete despite a late ballot printing scramble triggered by the Constitutional Court ruling reinstating 181 African National Congress candidates.

The decision was extended to 32 other parties in similar circumstances, pushing the affected ballot requirement to about 33 million, with printing now being finalised.

IEC Chairperson Mosotho Moepya says the commission remains on track for election day, as special voting gets under way on Monday and Tuesday.
