SADC and Eurasian Economic Commission target energy food security and market access collaboration

Representatives from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) have held exploratory discussions aimed at forging closer ties across vital economic sectors.

The engagement brought together regional leadership to examine potential avenues for collaboration in energy, trade facilitation, transport logistics, and food security.

The initiative builds on existing regional integration strategies within Southern Africa, which aim to diversify trade partners, boost industrialisation, and modernise infrastructure networks across its 16 member states to better handle cross-border commerce.

Discussions focused on identifying strategic areas where both regional economic communities can share technical expertise, expand market access, and enhance infrastructure connectivity to support sustainable development and mutual growth.
