South Africans are preparing to head to the polls this Wednesday to vote for the country local government and local ward councillors.
The election kicks off this morning with the commencement of special voting.
Today and tomorrow the Electoral Commission of South Africa (SA) will administer approved special votes for citizens who are physically infirm, disabled, pregnant, or otherwise unable to travel to a voting station on November 4, the main election day.
This local government election would be the first since the formation of national government of national unity in 2024.
About 29.9 million registered voters are expected to cast their ballots across 10 526 municipal council seats.
