The movement has written a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa, urging him to intervene in the impasse that has followed the October elections.
In the letter, Plataforma DECIDE highlighted numerous irregularities that marred the October elections and accused the Mozambican Constitutional Council of violating the Organic Law of the Constitutional Council.
The movement claims that the Council’s decision goes against all laws and has contributed to the current unrest.
Executive Director of Plataforma DECIDE, Wilker Diaz, elaborated on the situation, emphasizing the need for South Africa’s involvement.
“We think SA is one country that defends human rights and the truth in this whole process. We have given that letter to President Ramaphosa, hoping he will take a position and discuss Mozambique in Parliament. Just as SA has taken a stance on the Gaza conflict with Israel and Palestine, we are neighboring countries with different problems, but on a large scale as well,” Diaz stated.
