Alexx Ekubo has died at the age of 40, according to local media reports in Nigeria.

Reports say the award-winning film star died on Monday night at a hospital in Lagos following a reported battle with cancer.

Ekubo was widely recognised for his roles in productions such as Weekend Getaway and for appearing in Johnny by Yemi Alade in 2013.

Throughout his career, he received several awards and was also praised for his humanitarian work and contribution to Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
