KwaZulu-Natal prepares to welcome international filmmakers for July showcase

South Africa’s (SA) KwaZulu-Natal province is turning up the glamour and positioning itself as a major hub for the creative economy ahead of the highly anticipated Durban International Film Festival.

The lifestyle and entertainment showcase is set to bring a major boost to the hospitality sector, driving luxury tourism and creating jobs as film enthusiasts and industry insiders pack out the city. Beyond the red carpets and premier screenings, the event is designed to spotlight the province’s stunning landscapes to a global audience.

Film Festival Manager Sakhile Gumede says welcoming an influx of international filmmakers this July provides the perfect opportunity to showcase the region’s scenic beauty as a world-class back-drop for major productions.
