Artistic expression is the name of the game at the Children’s Summer Holiday programme underway at the Zeitz Mocca Museum of Contemporary Art in Cape Town, Western Cape Province, South Africa (SA).
The museum says it’s had full Open Studio sessions since the start of the programme in mid December.
The initiative is aimed at making the museum, which is dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora, accessible to children.Experimentation with various materials, textures and colours. The art pieces, reflective of the exhibitions currently on display.
This season it included “perpetual proteas”, and “fanciful figurines.”The museum says it wants to nurture children’s artistic expression and open up the museum space to them through their programmes.
The centre runs a number of projects for children and young artists throughout the year.
