Earlier Saturday, seven people including a baby were killed when a SUV and light delivery vehicle collided head-on on the N12 between Kimberly and Warrenton, in the Northern Cape.
Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) Spokesperson, Simon Zwane says in the second incident, five people died on the N12 in Fochville, Gauteng, when two vehicles were also involved in a head on collision. Zwane adds that three people died on the scene while two others died later in hospital.
“The RTMC is investigating two crashes in which 12 people died, today. The exact cause of these crashes are still unknown at this stage. The RTMC would like to reiterate its call for drivers to express extreme caution on the roads and also reduce speed and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
