Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Amon Murwira says the amendment of the constitution that led to the extension of the President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ term of office was done in line with the laws of that country.
The opposition in Zimbabwe has criticised the process of amending the constitution saying it did not follow due processes.
Murwira exclusively spoke to the SABC on the sidelines of the SADC Summit currently underway in Durban in KwaZulu Natal province.
“Zimbabwe did a sovereign act to amend the Constitution. The Constitution now when it comes to Presidential is now exactly what is practiced in South Africa, exactly the way you elect the President. Exactly now in the Constitution we are electing the President there is no problem.”
