Delegations from 48 of Africa’s 54 countries are in Moscow for the third Russia-Africa Summit, with 22 countries represented by their heads of state.
The two-day meeting is focusing on trade, energy, food security, technology and investment.
Addressing the third Russia and Africa Summit in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Moscow as a partner in Africa’s economic development and in what he described as an emerging multipolar world.
Putin said trade between Russia and African countries could exceed $50 billion in the near future.
He said Russia exported 13 million tons of agricultural products to Africa in the first nine months of this year, with more than 40 African countries receiving Russian grain and fertilizers.
But leaders are also pushing for a relationship that goes beyond commodities.
