Activists have called on Southern African leaders to take the issue of illegal migration seriously.
The March and March movement led a protest of about 200 people in Durban in the KwaZulu Natal province, South Africa (SA) on Monday.
Demonstrators raised their concerns as regional leaders gathered for the 46th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government. The movement has also called for the deportation of all undocumented foreign nationals by September 30, as part of its campaign to pressure government to take action against illegal migration.
The movement’s leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma has called on neighboring countries in the region to create economic opportunities for their citizens to curb the influx of migrants into SA.
