The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) have launched a major financial partnership following the signing of a framework agreement for a Joint Project Preparation Facility.
Under the milestone agreement, each institution will contribute up to $10 million, totaling $20 million, to prepare high-impact, trade-enabling infrastructure and industrial projects across South Africa (SA) and the broader Southern African region.
The strategic facility aims to fast-track project readiness, unlock bankable infrastructure investment, and drive cross-border economic activity.
Furthermore, the joint venture directly supports the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, advances Southern African Development Community regional integration, and aligns with the strategic goals of SA’s National Development Plan 2030.
