South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa says Africa is moving into a new chapter of growth and global relevance, as the continent welcomes the G20 Leaders’ Summit for the first time.
Addressing African Heads of State and Government at a reception dinner in Sandton, Johannesburg last night, Ramaphosa said SA’s G20 Presidency is helping to drive stronger economic ties and boost investment across the continent.
He told delegates that “Africa is a continent on the rise”, adding that deeper economic cooperation remains key to building development, integration and resilience. “We must continue strengthening collaboration within and between our countries as we advance our own sovereignty and self-reliance,” he said.
The G20 Summit officially gets under way in Johannesburg this Saturday.
