North Africa’s energy powerhouse, Algeria, is stepping up efforts to boost oil and gas production while attracting fresh international investment.
The country has officially launched its Algeria Bid Round 2026.
The launch offers seven exploration blocks as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its position in global energy markets and support long-term energy security.
Algeria’s Ambassador to South Africa, Ali Achoui, says the move also reflects ongoing reforms to improve the investment climate.
Achoui says this alongside a parallel push into renewable energy, including solar and hydrogen.
