Algeria national team Captain, Riyad Mahrez expressed his disappointment after the Desert Foxes’ exit in the African Cup of Nations tournament yesterday but still admitted that the Super Eagles of Nigeria were the worthy winners
In what can best be described as a one-sided match for the better part of the game, Algeria lost the first semifinal 2-0 at the Marrakesh Stadium. Mahrez believes that the youthful team they brought to this tournament will learn a lot from this defeat and exit.
“We are disappointed and we wanted to go to the semi finals , it is s a tough one to take and football is like this . A lot of players playing for the first African cap and a new team and they have to go through these types of games and tournaments to improve. I think Nigeria has a lot of players who have African caps and have played together for so long and they deserve to go through,” he said.
